Balloons are whimsical, bright, colorful, and can convey a sense of adventure, which makes them an excellent theme for a nursery. We found some inspiring balloon themed nursery designs and paired them with a few of our personalized growth charts that we felt would further enhance the look of the room.
This hot air balloon banner from Postscripts on Etsy is super adorable and works for both boys and girls, which is why we’d pair it with the My Town personalized growth chart.

We love that this salon style art installation near the baby’s crib includes personal photos and objects while incorporating the nursery’s balloon theme, so the Balloon Party personalized growth chart would make an excellent addition. (Image courtesy of Miss Whit-any blog)

Design of the Week: Playful Owls Big Sister Tshirt
In our line of personalized tshirts for kids, we have owls on a few big brother tshirts and big sister tees, as well as personalized baby onesies, but the Playful Owl Big Brother Tshirt and Big Sister Tshirt design has been one of our most popular from the very beginning.
With two owls “perched” on either big brother or big sister text, this tee is just a hoot. Both boy and girl versions have darling stitching on the wings and winking big sibling owls with glasses. Our girl’s version includes an extra little detail on the big sister owl — a flower hair clip.
Contest Time: Funniest 1st Birthday
As we’ve recently mentioned, our line of personalized tshirts for kids is celebrating its first year and like our wee ones, over the past year we’ve learned and grown a lot. And with every milestone reached, there should be a celebration, only we’re giving away the gift – a $50 gift card good for personalized growth charts, big sister tshirt or big brother tshirt designs, alphabet posters, or personalized baby onesies.
To enter, tell us in the comments below what your funniest 1st birthday party memory is. It could have been something horrifying at the time – the dog ate the cake, the bouncy house deflated – but it’s something you laugh about now and always makes a great story.
If you win the $50 gift card, what baby keepsakes will you choose?
Cool Name of the Week: ALICE
What do you think of first when you hear the name Alice? Is it Alice in Wonderland, the lovable housekeeper on The Brady Bunch, or the feisty waitress from the popular 70’s TV sitcom? Meaning nobility and derived from Old French and Germanic names, it has been around for centuries and usually brings to mind a person who is solid and responsible, but still has a bit of mischievous playfulness about her. Once an incredibly popular name, it’s not very common nowadays though the trend of naming children for their grandparents is helping it regain its status, which is why we’ve chosen Alice as our Cool Name of the Week!
We picked a personalized growth charts that are whimsical, yet won’t go out of style any time soon, making them ideal baby keepsakes for any girl named Alice.

Celebrity kids of the week: Honor and Haven Warren
Jessica Alba recently told Us Weekly how much firstborn daughter Honor likes being a big sister. “She [Honor] loves it, she’s super into the fact that she can do, like, so much more than what the baby can do.” Sounds like she’d proudly wear some big sister tees!
Merry Menagerie, Tweet Tweet, and Colorful big sister tees
Which such a great big sister, we’re sure little Haven looks up to Honor and wants to be just like her when she grows up. So hanging a personalized growth chart in her room will let Haven keep track of her height as she grows tall like big sis Honor.

How-to Tip: Announce Sibling Status
Jessica Simpson recently announced she is expecting her second child and used daughter Maxwell in a super cute photo while on vacation in Hawaii to break the big news. As adorable as this pic is, we think she would have looked perfect in our tropical flowered themed Blooms Big Sister Tshirt.

So whether you’re announcing it to the world, your family and friends, or to your child(ren), here are some more cute ways to announce a new little one is on the way.
An adorable sign exemplifying the importance of being a big brother or sister is perfect to display in a child’s bedroom (found here on Pinterest).
A sweet book, like Big Sisters are the Best, that helps little ones feel good about becoming a “big” is a great gift and a good read.

Another gift to smooth the transition is a personalized Big Brother Tshirt or Big Sister Tshirt that can be worn with great pride and of course make excellent baby keepsakes.

Nursery Décor: Trucks & Cars
Once you’ve chosen the theme for your baby’s nursery, it’s easy to overdo it with themed décor items. Keep it simple; yet fun by choosing five elements that will have a big impact without being overwhelming. We’ve found these five car & truck themed décor pieces that will pull a nursery together nicely.
A colorful mobile to hang over the crib, like this felt car and truck one from LincKids on Etsy
Finish Line, Let’s Get to Work, On the Go personalized growth charts
A personalized growth chart that focuses on a specific type of car or truck, or incorporates both into the design adds decoration while recording baby’s growth.
A homemade quilt or crib set, like this one from Graco.
Lighting is always important, so a nightlight, lamp, or lampshade will be functional, as well as decorative — we love this one from Etsy shop, BuoKids.
A “wow” piece, like this monogrammed car and road wall art we found on DesignDazzle, will create a great focal point in the room.
Many of these can be saved as baby keepsakes and/or transition to a big kid room as well, which means they’re good investments.
Cool Name of the Week: ARCHER
We love a classic, traditional name like Rose or Jacob, though we can’t help but adore names that are both trendy and unique at the same time. There’s just something intriguing about a catchy name you know you’ve heard before, but don’t actually know anyone with it. That’s why Archer is our Cool Name of the Week!
Archer is a hip, kind of rugged name, so we chose a few big brother tshirts that would be ideal for the boy with this awesome moniker.
