Designer Spotlight: Hillary

You’ve seen her adorable Handmade by Hillary DIYs projects and our Creative Director is such a driving force behind so many of our personalized growth charts, alphabet posters, and tees, that we are super thrilled to feature Hil in our designer spotlight series this week. Here’s a little background on her inspiration for the brand new Stamped Style Big Sister Tshirt and Big Brother Tshirt design.

Hillary said, “I loved designing this shirt. The aged feel of the type gives it a unique look. I love that the type on the shirt is so big. It’s very eye-catching. I love designing for Petite Lemon. I get inspiration from everwhere: watching cartoons with my little girl, magazines, Pinterest, other designers, etc. Design is everywhere and it’s fun to notice the little things throughout the day that stand out to you.”

BIRTHDAY FREEBIE: COUNTDOWN DOOR CHAIN

In celebration of birthdays (which we LOVE!), we thought we’d create a fun new freebie for your to download and make. It’s the perfect craft for you to do along with your little ones and help them see how many days are in their birthday month.
For our Birthday Countdown Door Chain you’ll need:

to print off our free PDF, available in Primary or Candy colors
scissors and adult supervision if your little one will be cutting on their own
double sided tape or glue dots
a long piece of ribbon
a location to display … maybe on your child’s bedroom door?

Next, you need to:

print our the door chain, we printed our on cover stock paper
cut out the balloons and cupcake topper
depending on how many days into the month your child’s birthday is, you may need to cut a longer piece of ribbon, or even two pieces to hang up
using glue dots or double sided tape, attach your ribbon to the back of the cupcake and then hang up the cupcake and ribbon
you have 2 options with the ballons: you can either add a balloon each day until your child’s birthday OR you can put up all of the balloon for their birthday (say their birthday is on the 18th, put up 18 balloons) and then take one down each day until their birthday
fill out the cupcake topper with their name and age

EASTER SIBLING OUTFITS

Easter is next month and as much as we love the idea of a sweet Easter outfit (frilly dresses, suspenders and bow ties, etc), we’d like to choose something they’ll actually get some use out of afterwards. Sticking with spring colors (think Easter egg hues in brights or pastels) is a great way to create the perfect look to celebrate the holiday and get worn again.
We came up with some cute outfits for big brothers and their littles using our personalized tshirts for kids and seasonal inspired hats and headbands. Simply pair a darling topper with any of these big brother tshirts to give them a festive feel.

Cool Name of the Week: Violet

A growing trend in baby girl names are flower names like Lily, Rose, and our Cool Name of the Week: Violet. A beautiful flower and color, the name has recently gained popularity again for the first time since the Victorian era, surely due in part to Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck choosing it for their first born daughter.
We’ve chosen a few personalized growth charts, big sister tees and personalized baby onesies that highlight the floral and color inspiration of the name.
