Last week we wrote about pink as a classic, but not necessarily clichéd choice for a girl’s nursery, so we thought it was only fair to offer the same advice when using blue for a baby boy’s room.
We found some baby blue nursery décor options that will inspire a beautiful, not boring, boy’s room.
A personalized growth chart with a very graphic design boosts the décor power of baby blue, plus they make excellent personalized baby gifts. (ONE: 1 to 10, TWO: Colorful Words, THREE: Growing Giraffes, FOUR: Spell My Name personalized growth charts)
ONE: Between the chevron-patterned shade and the customized initial shape, this baby blue lamp will really light up a room design. (Perelle Lamps)
TWO: The Caravan Crib from Kalon Studios has light wood with baby blue slats to add impact to any nursery, and it’s FSC-certified to appeal to parents looking for an eco-friendly crib. (Posh Tots)
THREE: Pairing baby blue with a bright color, like with this soft minky blanket in orange and blue, really pumps up the color scheme. (Amazon)
Have you used baby blue in a nursery design? What did you do to make it really stand out?

You Asked, We Answered: What Pen is Best for Writing on Personalized Growth Charts?
(Personalized growth chart show here: Monkeying Around in Ocean Blue)
We’re often asked what kind of pen is best to use when recording a child’s height on their personalized growth chart. There are actually two parts to the answer to that question.
(Sample personalized growth chart: Zoo Friends in Ocean Blue)
First off, it’s best to use a fine point permanent marker, like a Fine Felt Tip Sharpie, on personalized growth charts to write easily and accurately. A fatter tipped pen will be harder to write legibly with and will not look quite as clear and concise.
(Sample personalized growth chart: Perfect Pennant in Navy Blue)
The second part of the answer depends on the background color of personalized growth charts. Use a colored pen that shows off well against the color darker personalized growth charts – i.e. a silver pen looks best against a dark background; on lighter colored backgrounds choose a colored pen, like black, blue, red, purple, etc that stands out against the personalized growth chart’s color scheme.
(Sample personalized growth chart: Best Friends)
User’s tip: Hang the chosen pen from a grommet with some twine so it’s easy to get to and can be used consistently whenever you choose to record your child’s height.

Three Special Ways to Wear a Big Sister Tshirt or Big Brother T shirt
Big sister shirts and big brother shirts can be worn any day of course, but there are some times to wear them to make them feel especially special. Here are three ideas:
- Announce a Pregnancy – want to surprise grandparents or take a photo to post on Facebook/Instagram, etc. to let friends and family know you have another baby on the way? Dress your little one in a big brother t shirt or big sister tshirt. (ONE/TWO: Something to Say Big Brother T shirt and Big Sister Tshirt; THREE/FOUR: Only Child Expiring Big Sister Tshirt and Big Brother T shirt)
- Wear to the Hospital – A trip to the hospital to see the newest member of the family can be exciting, as well as stressful, so wearing big sibling tees can give kids a sense of responsibility, importance, and understanding of where they fit into a changing family. (ONE/TWO: Color It Up big brother shirts and big sister shirts; THREE/FOUR: Taped Up big brother shirts and big sister shirts)
- Wear to a Little Sibling’s 1st Birthday Party – When kids are little, it can be tough seeing a sibling get all the attention on their birthday. Gifting them with sibling tees that coordinate with their little sib’s birthday shirt will brighten their day and make them feel included in the celebration. (ONE/TWO: Colorful big brother shirts and big sister shirts; THREE/FOUR: Super big brother shirts and big sister shirts; FIVE/SIX: Colorful Number and Superhero 1st birthday shirts)
Nursery Color Inspiration: Pink
If you’re designing a nursery for a new baby girl, pink may seem too cliché, but it doesn’t have to be. And if you aren’t into décor that’s super girly, consider combining pink with chocolate brown, sage green, or grays to really ground the color, or go with a clean white room with pops of pinks in various shades.
We’ve found some pink décor that will give a nursery real impact.
Whether it’s solid pink or paired with another accent color, a personalized growth chart from Petite Lemon is an easy way to accentuate a nursery decorated in shades of pink.
ONE: The Victoria Classics Pink Parade 5-Piece Crib Bedding Set is clean and modern. (Overstock.com) | TWO: All About Love in Powder Pink and Ladybug Love in Pink & Green personalized growth charts | THREE: Preppy Pennant in Soft Pink and 1 to 10 in Charcoal/Pink personalized growth charts | FOUR: This Pink Print Lamp Shade is a classic, feminine and fun. What do you think, is pink for you?
Nursery Color Inspiration: Brown and Orange Combo
Maybe because it’s fall and we’re in a seasonal mindset, but lately we’ve really been drawn to brown and orange color combinations. We love the warmth of brown hues set against a vibrant orange and the color combo’s openness to other accent shades, like light blue/aqua, white, and gray. Plus, it works well for a range of boy, girl, and gender neutral themes.
We paired some of our personalized growth charts with a few fab nurseries decorated predominantly in browns and oranges.
