Creating back to school traditions is a great way to make the transition a little bit smoother, and what parent doesn’t want this time of year to be as smooth as possible, right?! And of course, we’re here to help by rounding up some fun ideas the kids will look forward to every year.
School Fairy – Get kids excited with a visit from the School Fairy who delivers small treats, school supplies, and/or words of advice, wisdom, and encouragement. The School Fairy can make their first appearance the night before school starts, as well as throughout the school year.

Special Breakfast and After School Snack – Start the big day off right with their favorite breakfast, then welcome them home with a special treat to make the day feel special. The memory of warm homemade chocolate chip cookies and a cold glass of milk waiting for us after school still makes us smile!

Make a Schultuete – This tradition has been around for ages in Germany and is starting to become popular here, and for good reason – it’s fun and sure to get kids excited for school! Remember the excitement of putting treasures in a box and hiding it away with the knowledge that at some time in the future, you’ll get to rediscover them? Back to School Tshirt – A new personalized tee to wear on the first day of school is a fun way to show off their age, name or favorite things.
