Turkey Day is just around the corner and for this month’s Handmade by Hillary DIY, we’re making a thankful for Thanksgiving box to send off to our loved ones that we won’t be near this year.
YOU’LL NEED …
— a box for shipping, we found ours at a local paper supply store
— tissue, to line the package
— various treats and snacks, Thanksgiving themed of course
— little decorations such as a pennant, crepe paper, etc
— heavy weight paper for our printables
— scissors and tape
ONE print off our thankful printables (download here), which you’ll use in various elements of our box! Our 3 page PDF includes 1 sheet of thankful circles and a dotted stripe to decorate your little jars and treats, 1 “thankful for” sheet to fill out and share with your loved ones, and 1 paper football tutorial — perfect for the little ones to play while the big boys are busy watching the game!
TWO we lined our shipping box with orange tissue to add a bright, pop of fun and festive color — you could use any fun tissue you have at home.
THREE we filled our box with treats and snacks. For our Thanksgiving “turkey” we bought turkey jerky and for our “mashed potatoes” we included sour cream and cheddar potato chips. We also included little mason jars filled with fall colored candies and included a few orange and brown candy canes — we wrapped them together with the stripe in our printable and topped the jars with our thankful circles, which you can download here.
FOUR we made a little fabric pennet by cutting out mini triangles with pinking shears and attaching them to a ribbon. You could also include crepe paper or any other fun decorations you can think of!
FIVE fill out the thankful for list and include a few photos to share with your loved ones. We enclosed our pics in a little envelope and added another thankful circle (download here).
SIX send your thankful box off to your loved ones! Gobble Gobble!
