Though fall weather can be warm and beautiful, we know fall signals cold weather is on the horizon. And cold weather means more time indoors with the kiddos! So while we’re always busy designing personalized growth charts, big brother shirts, big sister shirts, and 1st birthday shirts, we like taking a little time out to create fun freebies that will keep the kids occupied. Because we know a busy kid is a happy kid and a happy kid makes for a happy parent!!
This adorable wall art is easy to make and the wee ones can even personalize them or spell out each animal’s name if they want to add their own touch of creativity.
Supplies:
– scissors
– iron-on transfer paper (for light fabric transfers — did you know they make it for light fabric and for dark fabric?!)
– cotton fabric, either in white or cream (we used cream in the pictures which we found as scraps from Joann’s for around $1.50)
– 7 inch diameter embroidery rings (about $1.59 at Joann’s)
– hot glue gun (not pictured)
Instructions:
Step 1. Download our circle animal faces — they are available in 4 colors, orange, teal, yellow and pink.
Step 2. Following the instructions on the iron-on transfer paper, carefully print and iron on the images onto your fabric. We suggest testing one first. Our iron was hotter than what the manufacturer suggested, so we had to push down for less time when ironing the transfer on. We ironed on all of our faces on to one big piece of frabic.
Step 3: Cut the out the faces leaving lots of extra fabric around each one. Place the faces into the embroidery rings and tighten in place.
Step 4: Once tightened, cut around the fabric to about 1/2 inch or so (see image above).
Step 5: Using a hot glue gun, carefully glue the fabric down and around the embroidery ring (see image above).
Step 6: Hang on your little one’s wall and enjoy! We used double sided sticky hanging tape, like the 3M Command Strips.
