New York fashion week was earlier this month, sending cold weather looks down the runway and identifying new trends we can expect to see this fall. But lucky for us, spring is coming soon with its light and bright feel so we thought we’d have some fun with some of our favorite picks from the spring runways and highlight our big sister shirts in complementary colors and patterns (in age appropriate style for kids of course!).
Nothing says spring like flowers, which makes The Fantastic Floral trend, seen at Thakoon (top) and Stella McCartney (bottom), timeless for adults and kids alike. (Shown: Blooms Big Sister Tshirt and Flower Power Big Sister Tshirt)
The soft and ultra-feminine First Blush trend, like those on the runway at Oscar de la Renta (top) and Burbery Prorsum (bottom), is perfect for little girls as well. (Shown Super and Chic Style big sister shirts)
The super colorful Pop Art trend, like those seen by Chanel (top) and Kenzo (bottom), isn’t just for the runway, it’s totally ideal for little ones too. (Shown: Color It Up Big Sister Tshirt and Something to Say Big Sister Tshirt)
We may not be fashion designers, but little ladies can be in style while wearing our big sister shirts. And for your little man? Check back as we translate men’s style to our big brother shirts.
What We Love Right Now: Gray & Yellow
As designers, we tend to get obsessed at times with certain colors or patterns, and right now we really love the combination of yellow and gray together. This color combo can be soft and sophisticated, bright and cheerful, or rich and chic, not to mention it works just as well as a gender neutral palette as it does for feminine or masculine designs.
In addition to our personalized baby gifts, we’ve pulled together some gorgeous yellow and gray décor ideas for nurseries, baby showers, and 1st birthday parties.
Personalized baby gifts (Shown: Chic Chevron Cake Time 1st Birthday Shirts; Heart 2 Heart Mom & Dad personalized onesies)
Nursery décor (Buy Modern Baby; Our Life as Newlyweds)
Baby Shower décor (On to Baby; Oh Sugar Events)
1st Birthday party décor (N.Brynn; Hostess with the Mostess)
Do you like yellow and gray together? How have you used it, for personalized baby gifts, party décor, etc?
Sibling Gift Sets: Classic Books & Big Brother Shirts
We hope our gift set ideas with classic children’s books and big sister shirts was helpful. And if you’d like some more sibling gift inspiration, here are five book and big brother t shirt pairings, as well as why adding personalized baby gifts to these sets can up the bonding factor.
The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame // Merry Menagerie Big Brother T shirt
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling // Super Big Brother T shirt
Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein // Kids Play Big Brother T shirt
Oh, the Places You’ll Go! by Dr. Seuss // Around the World Big Brother T shirt
Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson // Playful Doodles and Love to Sketch big brother shirts.
Want to get siblings even more excited about their new role in the family? Add coordinating little brother or sister personalized onesies. These personalized baby gifts can show the connection between siblings and their “littles,” making them feel especially proud to be a “big.”
Sibling Gift Sets: Books & Big Sister Shirts
When a new baby joins the family, the newborn can’t help but be the center of attention which can be a little disconcerting for their sibling(s). That’s why a sweet big brother or sister gift is a great way to let wee ones know they’re still very loved and cherished.
Gift sets with classic children’s books and big brother shirts or big sister shirts are ideal as the shirts let them celebrate their new sibling status while the books offer an opportunity for special reading time with mom or dad.
Here are four gift set ideas of classic books paired with complementary big sister shirts.
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett // Blooms Big Sister Tshirt and Sunny Flower big sister shirts
Charlie & the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl // Sweet Treat Big Sister Tshirt
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum // Over The Rainbow Big Sister Tshirt
A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett // Looks Like Me Princess Big Sister Tshirt

Petite Lemon Presents: FREE Birthday Infographic Poster
When we design items for our line of personalized baby gifts, we hope they help make special memories for children and their parents. That’s also why we love to design freebies that allow wee ones to spend quality time with their mommies and/or daddies, as well as ones that celebrate holidays and special occasions in their lives. And birthdays are a very special day for kiddos, so we’ve created this SUPER fun infographic that can be downloaded for free and then printed at a minimal cost at a Staples, FedEx Office, or most local print shops (ours cost only $8 for a 36”x48” poster!).
Click here to download the FREE birthday infographic poster.
Our birthday freebie poster download comes complete with a directions + 2 versions of our poster (black, as show above, or gray).
Included in our directions sheet is information on how to get this bad boy printed, which is quite easy and affordable. We were able to get ours printed for about $8. You and your kiddo are going to have a blast filling it in with their favorite things and loves + choosing 3 images from their year to print off yourself and attached (we’re thinking from Instagram, easy peasy!). It’s the perfect addition to a personalized birthday tee, to help you celebrate your little’s special day!! (above, birthday girl Lily is wearing our Happy Confetti personalized birthday tee).
We hope you have fun with this infographic and would LOVE to see what you create with it. Send us your pictures to buzz@petitelemon.com, post to our Facebook wall here, or to Instagram with the hashtag #petitelemon!! We can’t wait to see what your little one thought about their very own birthday poster.
1st Birthday Theme: Amethyst
Planning a party for a February birthday? The gorgeous hue of this month’s birthstone, the amethyst, offers inspiration for easy party décor and gifts.
As personalized baby gifts or party wear, 1st birthday shirts in amethyst tones can’t be beat. Add party hats, leggings, and/or a tutu to 1st birthday shirts to really up the style factor. Amethyst earrings, a bracelet or necklace also make gifts that can be enjoyed for years to come.

Set the color theme off right from the start with purple invitations from Petite Lemon’s collection of birthday party invites with Shutterfly.com.

How do you incorporate a color theme, with personalized baby gifts, cakes, décor, etc?
Corporate Gifting: Personalized Baby Gifts
Personalized growth charts and personalized onesies make excellent baby shower gifts, we’ve given them to our friends and families for years, but we recently realized that they are also a perfect choice for corporate gifting.
We know plenty of people who have received flowers from their employers once their baby was born. And though flowers are beautiful and appreciated, most new moms and dads are so absorbed in their new baby that they don’t have the time (or truthfully, the energy) to enjoy them. So when we realized one of our long time repeat customers were buying personalized growth charts for their employees’ newborns, the light went on. A personalized growth chart or a set of personalized onesies costs about the same as a nice bouquet of flowers and while flowers wilt within days, these personalized baby gifts will last for a long time. Brilliant!
Do you purchase “welcome baby” gifts for your employees? Do you stick with flowers or have you chosen personalized baby gifts, like tees, onesies or growth charts?
Get Inspired: Return to Tradition Trends
Last week we chose our four favorite nursery trends of the ten that Project Nursery identified for 2014 and highlighted Navy as Neutral. This week we put the spotlight on the Return to Tradition trend which is all about classic themes and Old World charm.
Here are a few nursery designs that fit that theme, along with our personalized growth charts that complement them.
Old school without feeling old and stuffy, we love the simplicity of this classic boy’s nursery and would pair the equally classic 1 to 10 personalized growth chart with it. (Image courtesy of Country Living Magazine)
A pink and green vintage floral style is timeless for a baby girl’s nursery décor so we’d choose the Butterfly Kisses personalized growth chart and hang it on the back of the bedroom door in this room. (Image courtesy of Claffisica)
The sweet simplicity of the soft pink Preppy Pennant personalized growth chart would work well in this romantic, Old World style nursery. (Image courtesy of At Home in Arkansas)
When designing a traditional nursery, you can’t go wrong with animal accents, so we’d go with the Animal Crackers personalized growth chart in this room which is the epitome of old-fashioned charm. (Image courtesy of Apartment Therapy)
What do you think about the Return to Tradition trend? Which of these personalized growth charts and room designs is your favorite combination?
Ways to Personalize Without Using Names
Do you love our big sister shirts and big brother shirts but prefer not to have your child’s name on their tee? As parents ourselves, we completely understand, but that doesn’t mean you can’t give your little one a custom tee that’s just for them. We have some great ideas on how to create personalized tees, like big sister shirts and big brother shirts, without using a child’s first name.
- Choose the Looks Like Me Princess Big Sister Tshirt that most resembles your little girl, but leave the name off.
- The Super Big Sister and Big Brother T shirt can have a “B” for brother or “S” for sister
- Instead of a name, choose big brother shirts and big sister shirts that show off their favorite things or correspond to your nickname for them. For example, the Batter Up Big Brother T shirt can say “Lil Slugger” or the Charming Castle can say “Princess”;
- Did you have a nickname for your wee one when they were in the womb, like peanut, bean, or pumpkin? If so, use that on their big sister or big brother t shirt.
And if you want to buy personalized baby gifts for a shower where the gender or name hasn’t been revealed, you can always use the baby’s last name or initial to customize onesies or shirts.
Monograms also work well when choosing personalized baby gifts that don’t have names. What do you think, would you consider any of these options instead of a first name?
Petite Lemon Presents: DIY Birthday & Party Hats
